There is a myth in the world… ‘People do not like to change.’ Of course we do… otherwise human race would not even exist!
Sometimes ago I came across these two great quotes: “It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” — W. Edwards Deming, a quote from the past century and… “Change is the only constant.” — Heraclitus, a quote from way back in the history of time, centuries and centuries ago. Changing is simply developing adaptability to whatever happens around us, in a way that may or may not change us.
Simply developing adaptability…
and it can start small… see my house-mate, a few weeks ago he bought up a different washing up liquid than I would have, with a very different smell… and everyday when I use it, I jump at the smell, laughing on how I am still surprised by it, and still not sure if I like it or not. After all, the dishes are cleaned well with that brand, so is that smell so important? or is it more interesting is to discover another smell and learn to like it. Okay this is only a washing up liquid story… but it’s a change, and with it I exercise my brain ‘change muscles’, my adaptability.
What about… exercising these muscles everyday? by simply enjoying small differences that take us out of our own way… yes it’s a simple start! a start in making change… a new habit!
